Storyline

During the tumultuous end of Ptolemaic Egypt around 49-38 BC, Bayek of Siwa, the last protector of the Medjay order, sets out on an unending quest for justice after masked killers from the secretive Order of the Ancients brutally murder his young son, Khemu, in the shadow of towering pyramids. Bayek and his wife Aya, who is also a skilled warrior, hunt down members of the “Order” in the Nile’s lush deltas, dry deserts, and busy cities like Alexandria and Memphis. They do this while the civil war between Cleopatra and Ptolemy XIII is getting worse. Their journey uncovers ancient Isu artifacts and makes unlikely allies. Their personal grief becomes the founding creed of the Hidden Ones, who were the first members of the Assassin Brotherhood. This creed emphasizes freedom over tyranny.

Layla Hassan, an unhappy Abstergo scientist, steals a powerful Isu artifact from her bosses in the present day. She does this to stop solar flares from destroying Earth’s magnetic field and causing a global disaster. Layla uses a portable Animus to relive Bayek’s genetic memories and find safe places that ancient prophecies say will be safe. She fights the Bleeding Effect while putting together clues from visions. Her journey is linked to Bayek’s, and it reveals deep connections to the never-ending Assassin-Templar war and humanity’s Isu heritage.

Gameplay

Origins changes the series to a full action RPG style, with an open world that spans Egypt’s many biomes, from golden dunes and lush oases to huge pyramids and busy markets. You can explore it on foot, horseback, camelback, chariot, or boat without having to load screens. Players get dynamic quests from quest-givers and use a compass instead of a minimap to find tombs, papyrus puzzles, and time trials. Senu, Bayek’s eagle friend, lets you scout from the air to tag enemies, show loot, and find hidden paths. This makes tactical planning easier and makes you feel like you’re in a living historical tapestry.

Combat changes into a heavy, hitbox-based system that combines melee, ranged, and stealth. Progressing through loot gives you weapons of different rarities with status effects like fire or poison. A deep skill tree with branches for warriors, hunters, and seers lets you use abilities like attacks that give you adrenaline, shield bashes that knock enemies off balance, and bow trick shots that kill enemies from a distance. Stealth stays the same through blending in with crowds, parkour on rooftops, and taking down enemies in the environment. RPG elements like ability points from levels and gear upgrades require players to make smart builds to fight tough bosses and soldier patrols.

Playing Experience

In Assassin’s Creed Origins, you can see Egypt’s recreated beauty, like when you climb the Great Pyramid at Giza and see stunning views, or when you go on a Nile cruise and see hippo hunts or crocodile ambushes among the lively wildlife. Combat is full of tension, whether you’re parrying spear thrusts, breaking shields, or sniping from reeds. Mastering button-mashing is rewarding, and Senu’s flights reveal secrets like cursed vaults or lost libraries. Ultra settings on PC make sunsets and sandstorms look real; Winlator on Android keeps this portability, so nomads can raid forts anywhere with responsive controls. Side quests like gladiatorial battles in an arena, aligning stone circles, and stories about nomadic traders add dozens of hours of fun and discovery to the game.
