Baby Steps

Baby Steps makes the simple act of walking into the whole challenge. Nate climbs a misty mountain one foot at a time, with each step controlled separately by the player. It is a deliberately awkward physics game on PC; Android play through Winlator has not been verified for this build.

Storyline

Nate begins as an aimless man suddenly placed in a strange outdoor world. The climb gives him a destination, but the game spends more time on his reactions to setbacks and the people he meets than on a conventional quest.

Gameplay

You decide where each foot lands and how Nate shifts his weight. A short slope can become a puzzle when a careless step sends him sliding down it. Paths branch through rocks, streams, and ridges, encouraging you to look for stable ground instead of rushing. The humor comes from that tension between an ordinary movement and the effort it takes to perform it.
