IL-2 Sturmovik: Desert Wings - Tobruk is a realistic World War II combat flight simulator that takes place in the harsh sands of the North African campaign. Storyline

The campaign takes players to the important North African theater of World War II, where the fate of whole armies depended on who controlled the important port of Tobruk and the supply routes across the Mediterranean. The German Afrika Korps and Italian Regia Aeronautica fought against the Royal Air Force and Commonwealth pilots in a long, hard battle that was made worse by the heat, sandstorms, and constant armored advances across endless dunes.

You can see history from different angles in the single-player campaigns. For example, you can fly a Hurricane and protect bombers, dive on enemy tanks in a Ju 87 Stuka, or protect convoys in a Macchi C.202. Each mission is based on real events that happened between 1940 and mid-1942. They combine historical accuracy with new and exciting elements that make each sortie different and hard.

Gameplay

Realistic flight modeling, clickable cockpits, and detailed damage systems that reward precise piloting are the main parts of the game. There are more than 40 new flyable aircraft, from biplanes like the Gladiator and CR.42 to advanced fighters like the Spitfire Mk VB, Bf 109F-4, and Kittyhawk, as well as twin-engine bombers like the Wellington and Ju 88. The huge 385 km x 385 km map has more than 75 airfields, detailed fortifications, minefields, and naval vessels, making it a living battlefield where ground and air forces work together perfectly. Multiplayer lets you fight with more than 100 people at once, and the improved mission builder and AI let you play the game over and over again with new scenarios or quick missions that have random events.
