Into the Radius VR
Into the Radius VR is a thrilling single-player survival shooter set in the strange Pechorsk Radius, where strange landscapes, deadly creatures, and hazards that defy physics make every step a challenge. CM Games made and published this VR game. It has immersive exploration and tactical combat. You can play it on powerful PCs with VR headsets or on Android devices using emulators like Winlator. It brings the zone’s dread to portable platforms.
Storyline
The Pechorsk Event happens in 1987, when a huge earthquake destroys a small mining town in the Soviet Union and brings a huge dark-red orb into the sky, covered in black ash. This disaster creates the Radius, a sealed-off area full of strange anomalies, mutated animals, and priceless artifacts that is cut off from the rest of the world. By 2002, the United Nations Pechorsk Special Committee (UNPSC) sends elite explorers deep into the event to collect the fruits of anomalies while trying to figure out where it came from, all while rumors of cosmic conspiracies and lost civilizations swirl around them.
As Explorer #61, you wake up in the middle of the blight with broken memories. A ghostly Handler voice tells you what your missions are. As you move through abandoned buildings and foggy wilderness, you collect data logs, see ghostly visions, and face the zone’s growing dangers. Each artifact you find adds to a story of loneliness, discovery, and existential dread.
Gameplay
The main goal of the game is to survive in a semi-open world. You do this by using detectors to find hidden anomalies, scavenging for broken guns, ammo, and medicine, and then physically manipulating gear in VR by racking slides, stuffing magazines, and carrying a heavy backpack that sways in a realistic way. Missions mix story-driven goals like artifact hunts with side tasks to improve your base. You have to drive vehicles across irradiated terrain while keeping an eye on your hunger, radiation, and the night cycles that make entities more aggressive.
Combat focuses on realism and scarcity. Bullets go through flesh in a satisfying way, but jams, wear, and limited carry weight make planned fights more appealing than run-and-gun chaos. At your modular base, you can turn loot into tools, and updates add co-op for shared raids, which raises the stakes as teammates cover flanks against swarming mutants. All of this is supported by probing mechanics that turn the environment into a puzzle of danger and reward.
Playing Experience
When you go into the Radius, you are fully immersed in VR. The weight of your gear pulls at your shoulders, distant howls break the silence, and anomaly fields warp reality right in front of you. This creates nail-biting tension on PC VR rigs or surprisingly good emulated runs via Winlator, turning routine patrols into thrilling journeys of victory and fear.
