Storyline

In 1992, Russia was going through a lot of economic problems and crime was on the rise. The sleepy village of Kujlevka faced its strangest challenge yet when a UFO crashed into the home of the local chairman. Players take on the role of Valery Potikhonchenkov, a grizzled World War II veteran and headmaster of a collective farm who has to mediate between different planets. Valery’s job is to screen villagers’ visits to the saucer and talk to them through a makeshift TV translator. The aliens watch without rushing, and Valery shapes humanity’s first impression of them.

The story mixes personal village stories with cosmic mystery, which is shown through dream sequences that make everyday problems seem strange, like lines for bread and ghostly figures. Different endings happen because of important choices. These endings look at themes of greed, faith, and connection, and they turn the rundown kolkhoz into a weak bridge between worlds during a time of historical upheaval.

Gameplay

At a messy desk, players make choices on purpose. They listen in on villagers’ pleas over the phone and choose three words from a growing list to send their wishes to the aliens. A triangular interface changes depending on how well the translation works, important events, or new vocabulary unlocks. Friends Vasily, Stepan, and Klim add funny advice with their banter. Choices whimsically fulfill or thwart desires, like giving a child a toy or starting a riot, giving micro-stories a god-like sense of control.
