Opus Magnum

Opus Magnum is a machine-building puzzle game about alchemical engineering. You design a mechanism that turns starting materials into a required product, then watch it work—or fail. The Windows build is the reference release; Android compatibility through Winlator is unverified.

Storyline

Anataeus Vaya takes a post as head alchemist for a powerful house. Its politics provide a frame for the puzzles, while his work offers a way into a city where engineering carries status and risk.

Gameplay

Place arms, tracks, and other parts on a grid, then write a sequence of actions for them. A working design solves the immediate problem, but the game also invites you to make it smaller, faster, or cheaper. Watching a failed machine reveals exactly where the timing went wrong. That clarity makes revision satisfying even when a solution takes several attempts.
