The Amazing Spider-Man

Imagine flying between tall buildings in a lively Manhattan, with webs snapping tight as you dive toward the busy streets below. Sirens blare and mutant hordes rampage—The Amazing Spider-Man captures that heroic thrill by mixing fast-paced action with the freedom to explore an open world. For amazing graphics, launch it on your desktop. For Android, use Winlator to power it up and take web-slinging heroics with you wherever you go.

The story picks up right after the movie’s explosive ending and turns into a gripping tale of a viral apocalypse. Peter Parker, who is now stronger and has to balance his life with Gwen Stacy, finds out Oscorp’s dark secret: Dr. Curt Connors’ serum has turned into a deadly virus that turns people into savage Lizard-like beasts. Peter and Gwen sneak into labs that are off-limits and see the outbreak for themselves. People who escape flood Manhattan, causing panic all over the city. As Spider-Man, he races against time and teams up with reprogrammed Hunter killer robots to stop the flow. Stealthy infiltrations show how corrupt businesses are, and brutal confrontations put him up against bosses who are sick. The most tension is in the submerged sewers and Oscorp towers, where Peter faces Connors’ huge Lizard form. Moral questions come up: should you cure the sick people or stop the threat? The climax is a desperate battle to make an antidote that saves Gwen and takes back the city. When spoken in a real way, this revenge-driven story has emotional depth, heroism, and Spidey’s trademark jokes, all while the stakes get higher.

The game does a great job of balancing acrobatic movement with intense combat on a detailed map of Manhattan that includes Midtown, the Financial District, and more. Web-swinging is a lot of fun. The mechanics based on momentum let you zip between buildings, take shortcuts on zip-lines, or run up the sides of skyscrapers without any problems. Combat turns into free-flowing brawls where you can dodge attacks, counter with web-yanks, unleash ground pounds, or use gadgets like electric webs and concussion blasts. Stealth works best inside—crawl on the ceilings to silently take out enemies who are patrolling. There are more than 50 story missions that include platforming, chases, and big events, like fighting helicopters in the air or racing bio-lab mutants. There are a lot of side activities to do, like racing against other players on the web, stopping street crimes for XP, hunting down over 700 tech parts to improve your health, suits, and abilities, and finding collectibles that unlock concept art. Wanted levels start pursuits. To get away from NYPD cruisers, spike strips, and SWAT choppers, you can swing to rooftops or disappear into alleys. Drive stolen taxis to get away from the ground and change into new suits like the Advanced Suit. On PC, change the graphics to make the cityscapes look super sharp. With Winlator, you can use touch controls that work like a console on the go.

When police chase you, the skyline becomes a playground, with helicopters shining spotlights and roadblocks forcing you to come up with creative ways to get away. Dynamic weather and destructible environments make the game more immersive. Upgrade trees let you customize Spidey’s weapons for either stealthy or aggressive play.

System Specifications

For minimal graphics on a desktop, use an NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT or an ATI Radeon HD 4850 with 512MB of VRAM. For desktop graphics, we recommend the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 or the ATI Radeon HD 6950 (1GB VRAM). The minimum processor for a desktop is an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.6 GHz or an AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+. Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4 GHz or AMD Athlon II X4 2.6 GHz are good processors for desktops. For Winlator, the minimum Android processor is the Snapdragon 720G or the MediaTek Helio G99, which can run at a stable 25 to 30 frames per second. For smooth 40–60 FPS, the Snapdragon 888 or MediaTek Dimensity 1200+ are the best Android processors.
